Cupcakes! Cupcakes! Cupcakes!

Disclaimer: Not my picture...I don't know who's it is...
Recently I was asked to make a dozen of Dallas Cowboy inspired cupcakes for someone's daughter's sweet 16 birthday party.  So I had to rack my brain for some ideas....Obviously I knew I had to incorporate the star in some way and the colors.  The thing that made me worry is that I haven't worked with fondant in about 4 years....and when I worked with it then, I wasn't that great at it....but cutting a star out of fondant can't be that hard right?

Last time I worked with fondant I made my own traditional fondant. At the time I was pretty proud of it. I made a bouquet of roses on top of a fondant covered cake...God I wish I could find those photos.  They weren't horrible for the first time ever working with fondant, but they were not the most amazing things ever...but hey I was self taught, I can't complain too much.  However, this time I was much more happy with it.

Here was the finished product.

Dallas Cowboy inspired cupcakes: Blue Velvet with Cream Cheese Frosting
I was so proud of these, but more importantly, the birthday girl loved them and so did her mama!  She wants some for her husband on the 14th!

So the lady with the Dallas cupcakes was so proud of them she showed a lot of people we worked with.  One of the doctors said she wanted some cupcakes.  She wanted them chocolate and girly.  Well what is more girly than pink bows?  So I started searching the internet for a good tutorial on how to make pink bows out of fondant.  I was nervous because it takes a little more skill to make bows than it did to cut stars out of fondant with a cookie cutter...but let me tell you, I was so so so proud of the final product!

Again, I am so proud of these!

Another new thing I have tried recently was brown butter pumpkin cupcakes with white chocolate and salted caramel frosting.  This totally NOT original but it was so yummy!  And I have never made caramel before.  I don't think it turned out as good as it could have, but trust me, it was so good that I am not complaining!

I am about 99.9% sure this is where I got the recipe from. The only difference is that I made my white chocolate frosting and then added caramel to it.

Two Peas and Their Pod also has a lot of other yummy looking recipes on their website too! So check them out!

Thanks for reading!  Let me know if you've tasted or made any yummy treats lately, or let me know if you need any of my yummy treats!  The holidays are coming and what better gift than cupcakes or cookies!

XOXO,
Kat

  1. Your Pink Velvet cupcakes are beautiful and yummy. And everyone loved the pumpkin chocolate cupcakes too. I could eat a whole bowl of your frosting.
