How To Clean Your Curling Iron

Lately I have been curling my hair...a lot...I bought a curling wand about a year ago and I just haven't figured out the best technique.  So I tried it one day and I actually like it a lot...Plus, I got tons of compliments on my hair.

With use, my curling wand has gotten filthy!

Like I said, disgusting!

So I went online to find a way to clean it. I found cleaning it with alcohol, finger nail polish remover, ammonia, and a baking soda/water paste.

I started with finger nail polish remover because I didn't have any alcohol and here is how it turned out in the spot.

See the bare streak down the middle?

It worked but I felt I had to scrub really hard, so I wanted to see if there ammonia would work better.

It worked a little, but I still felt that the nail polish remover worked better...

I scrubbed as much as possible with the nail polish remover but it still didn't come off all the way.

One website suggested that if the polish remover didn't get it completely off to coat the wand/curling iron with a baking soda paste and let it sit for 10 minutes and then wipe it off with a damp cloth.

It worked like a charm!

After it sat for 10 minutes I scrubbed it a little with the baking soda mixture to get the rest of the residue off.

My finished product!!!

I am so glad that my curling want is clean!

Here is the website that I got the information from!

Also, remember to wipe your iron with a damp cloth after every use to keep it from getting the burned on mess!

XOXO
