A Long Unfortunate Week :-/

So my plan has been to work on the things I've talked about in the Simplify Your Life blog post, but as we all know...things happen.  Last week was a really ruff, long, and unfortunate week and this week didn't make it any better..but on the bright side...my Halloween costume is almost done and fall break is in like a week and a half.  This break is going to be a much needed break!

Last Monday, October 11, 2010 my grandfather passed away.  I don't really know what happened. I think his heart just gave out...but either way, that doesn't matter. What does matter is that a wonderful man left this earth that day. Papa was the type of man that looked like a grump on the outside, but when you really got to know him he had a heart of gold.  He had a tender heart and and soul.  He wanted to help everyone with everything that he could.  He grew a garden every year and he made sure we had party mix and candies at Christmas time.  Every year he would can things like crazy.  He would can green beans, tomatoes, corn, make pickles, and make vegetable soup and can that.  Anytime we wanted any of that he would make sure that we had it if we wanted.  I'm going to really miss those things.  But that's okay, Papa's health has been slowly going down hill for years now, and I wouldn't doubt it if he was in pain...if fact, he had to be in pain. He was on oxygen for most of the day, if not all of the day, he was in and out of the hospital for a couple of days every other month with fluid on his lungs, and I'm sure there were things going on that I didn't really know about.  But my grandfather was a wonderful man. He was always helping with church.  He had done Royal Rangers as long as the church had it.  He was also a great neighbor.  His neighbors Russel and Mike came over to visit Elizabeth (my step-grandmother) almost everyday last week, and they are probably still visiting her.  During the funeral the preacher said that Papa influenced many lives, and he did. He influenced his family, his friends, his neighbors, and I am sure that the list goes on and on. He was a wonderful old grump.
